Good news to those adventurers, whether you’re within the vicinity of urban areas or trying out outdoor activities in rural zones, Sun Cellular is expanding its network coverage in Mindanao to bring its best value services to more customers in southern Philippines.

Sun Cellular will be strengthening their network coverage in areas like Lanao del Norte and Lanao del Sur, Basilan, Camiguin, Zamboanga, Tawi-Tawi, Dinagat Island, Compostela Valley, Sulu, parts of Bukidnon, Cagayan de Oro and Davao del Sur among others. According to Charles Lim, Sun Cellular Chief Operating Officer, the demand for Sun Cellular’s best-value products and services in Mindanao is immense, hence he prioritized Mindanao in the initial phase of Sun Cellular network enhancement program for 2012.

Sun Cellular has been known for its best value product offering such as the Text Unlimited 150 which allows customers to text other Sun subscribers unlimited for 30 days and the Text Unlimited 200 which also includes 500 texts to other networks aside from the 30-day unlimited Sun-to-Sun texts. “Mindanao is an important market for us. Local and national officials from the region have been sending us letters on behalf of their constituents and we’d just like to say we have heeded their call,” Lim enthused.

Lim revealed that the Mindanao network improvement will just be the initial salvo of network enhancement programs that Sun has lined-up this year. “We will be augmenting our existing 6,000 plus cell sites and will further strengthen coverage which will also be felt in the areas of North Luzon and the Visayas region, wherever there is a demand for Sun’s affordable communication products and services,” he said.

This will include improving indoor coverage through the use of in-building solutions and high gain antennae in strategic locations. The network improvement program also involves optimizing exisiting cellsites to boost both 2G and 3G signals.

Sun Cellular Launches New Postpaid Plan 250

Following its intensified network expansion program, Sun Cellular launched its first salvo of new and better value postpaid plans, the Postpaid Plan 250 initially available in Mindanao.

“Given the immense demand for Sun Cellular”s best-value services in Mindanao, we have specifically chosen the region as our pilot area for this subscription plan offering,” says Ricky Pena, Senior Vice President for Postpaid and New Business.

For only Php250.00 per month, subscribers to this new postpaid plan includes unlimited Sun-to-Sun texts, four hours of Sun-to-Sun calls, 500 texts to other networks plus a free Samsung E1080 phone. This plan is perfect for those who want to enjoy unlimited texting and still be able to call their friends and loved ones from time to time. Also with the generous allocation of texts to other networks, this plan will also attract those who want to stay in touch but do not want to spend too much.

Sun Cellular has been the preferred choice of over 50% of new postpaid plan subscribers for the past 5 years. Its postpaid subscriber base continues to grow steadily increasing by more than 30% year over year in January of 2012 versus the same period last year.

“This 2012, we are focusing on boosting our network signal strength by augmenting and optimizing our existing cell sites, and taking advantage of synergies with our sister companies in the PLDT Group. Our extensive network strengthening campaign will be complimented with products that best suit the needs of the locals in the areas we are expanding to,” Pena revealed.

Pena also expressed his confidence on the widened coverage in Mindanao. “As we move to further establishing a more extensive network, our subscribers in Mindanao may now enjoy our best-value postpaid plans in areas where before we were not present,” he adds. “This will also benefit customers in other areas outside Mindanao as they can now get in touch with their family and other loved ones in the new areas we are now in using their Sun Cellular lines.”

The first wave of these network enhancement efforts are now being felt in the areas of Lanao del Norte and Lanao del Sur, Basilan, Camiguin, Zamboanga, Tawi-Tawi, Dinagat Island, Compostella Valley, Sulu, Bukidnon, Cagayan de Oro, Davao del Sur, among others.

Sun Cellular is a member of the PLDT Group.

A hip, cozy, relaxed, world class artisanal breadshop serving healthy, freshly made bread onsite with unique fusion interpretations of local bread products, gourmet comfort food, custom gelato mixes and a selection of freshly brewed coffee.

April 24, I missed the cross-country mountain bike ride to Lagonglong, Misamis Oriental. It was a bit frustrating but not until I found out the best way to spend the day – hit the sweets at the newest breadshop in Cagayan de oro City — Missy Bon Bon Breadshop. I’ve been hearing a lot about this breadshop lately from a lot of people who lined up during the opening of Missy Bon Bon Breadshop main branch in Rosario Arcade, Limketkai Mall. When I got there, I was surrounded by tasty-looking breads, delicious pastries, and the talk-of-the-town gelato!

Roughly 300 bloggers are expected to attend this year’s summit.

With the theme, “Mindanao: Bag-Uhon Ang Panan-aw,” (Changing The Way People See Mindanao) the event aims to uphold the beauty and strength of Mindanao, to highlight the diverse cultures and fascinating tourist spots that are uniquely Mindanao and to provide a platform where bloggers and other new media practitioners can discuss concerns related to Mindanao – all with the help of new and emerging technologies.

“Mindanao is the home of everything fascinating or in bloggers’ lingo – bloggable. Through the Mindanao Bloggers Summit 3, it is the hope of the CDO Bloggers, along with our partners and generous sponsors, that we listen to knowledgeable resource persons, meet other Mindanaoan bloggers, share and maximize all of our skills and resources and adopt tried and tested practices that can help us to fully promote Mindanao and for us to become better bloggers as well,” emphasized Chiq Montes, president of CDO Bloggers.

“Of course, we also want all of the participants to have a good time and experience the sights and sounds of Cagayan de Oro,” Montes added.

Montes said that apart from Mindanaoan bloggers, the summit will also see the participation of some bloggers from Luzon and Visayas.

Expected to grace the summit are United States Embassy’s new Deputy Chief of Mission Leslie Bassett, Atty. Adel Tamano, Agusan Lone District Rep. Rodolfo “Ompong” Plaza and Cagayan de Oro City Mayor Constantino ‘Tinnex’ Jaraula.

Considered unprecedented in the Philippine blogosphere, a top ranking United States Embassy dignitary is set to deliver the keynote address. Bassett’s trip to CDO will be her first trip to Mindanao since assuming office in June. She previously served as DCM in Mexico.

“We are deeply honored. We’re certain that the summit participants will be delighted to meet her and we can’t wait for her to see our beautiful city,” Montes said.

Other speakers during the whole-day affair include Cagayan de Oro City Mayor Tinnex Jaraula, Agusan Lone District Rep. Rodolfo “Ompong” Plaza and Atty. Adel Tamano.

Google’s Philippine representative Aileen Apolo, whose talk will focus on beginners, Digital Filipino’s Janette Toral, who will discuss blog advertising and Lyle Santos, who will talk about making money online will also be present. Representatives of other blogger groups including those in Davao City, General Santos City and Zamboanga will also give updates.

After the summit proper, participants have the choice of joining either the city tour (Xavier University Museum, Cathedral, Divine Mercy Shrine, Opol Aviary, Limketkai Mall) or the whitewater rafting adventure.

Also happening on October 24, right after the MBS 3, is the Philippine Blog Awards – Mindanao awarding ceremonies.

CDO Bloggers, Inc., a group duly registered with the Securities and Exchange Commission, is the lead organizer of this year’s Mindanao Bloggers Summit 3. Previous summits took place in Davao City and General Santos City.

CDOBloggers wanted to share ideas about blogging, inviting people to blog whatever they want to write and express themselves on the blogosphere. A lot been asking lately about how blogging can be a powerful and actually let you earn just by writing. Today, a lot actually care about how they’ll be able to make use of their internet at homes. Others, wanted to document their lives and publish it online where their families and friends could read them while some wanted to just sell their good-as-new wears.

The Core

CDOBloggers decided to call out a meeting for the spearheads. During the second week of this month, there were discussions about having a workshop in the city. A workshop that might inspire people to do and share it with others. Somehow, a good idea for those who wants to have fun and earn as well, expand their networks and make friends; CDOBloggers announced it’s first Blogging 101 Workshop in the public.

With discussions/meetings held every week, members exchanged ideas and provided roles voluntarily to make the event possible. Everybody’s excited about it and wrote down general topics for the speakers. These topics, molded with experiences for over these years, will be shared to public for free*.

It’s all set. Topics were finalized for each speakers as well as the venue and date. It’s time to let the people know about the workshop. CDOBloggers posted the event on the internet – plurking, tweeting, writing about it. Informing officemates, friends, and relatives through SMS. Giving out flyers to the public, printouts posted all over the city – were just some of the funny activies we did.

Then came the first big event. May 23 at Sentro 1850, CDOBloggers didn’t expect a lot of people to join the workshop. There were students, professionals, couples, parents, bloggers and even non-bloggers! It’s for them, it’s for everybody – the Blogging 101 workshop, made possible by the dedicated CDOBloggers and the interested listeners.

FROM all obvious appearances, CDO Bloggers began as an online social network, a meeting place where virtual scribbling enthusiasts could exchange thoughts, view profiles and engage in light banter.
